There’s no better order in which to continue your masonic journey than the Order of the Secret Monitor, especially here in the Province of Essex.
The Secret Monitor was originally an American side degree conferred by a Mason on another. It came to the United Kingdom around 1875. A Grand Council was formed in 1887 when the ritual was added to and became three degrees, namely Secret Monitor, Prince and Supreme Ruler.
With twelve conclaves meeting throughout the province we are sure that you will find a conclave near you, ready to share the friendship of David and Jonathan with you.

Welcome to the Scarlet Cord which is the most recent Masonic Order to become widely accessible to Brethren in the United Kingdom and is one of the fastest growing Orders in Masonry today.
It is open to Princes of the Order of the Secret Monitor, and it remains very closely associated with that Order, indeed some of its ritual dates back to previous versions of the Secret Monitor degrees.
Like most Masonic Orders, the Order of the Scarlet Cord’s ceremonies are based upon biblical allegory, centred on incidents found in the Old Testament.
